Train to Be a facilitator

What does a Mothers CAN facilitator do?

Mothers CAN aims to normalise conversation about the climate crisis, foster community amongst mothers who live locally to one another and support these groups to take action.

Our trained Mothers CAN facilitators play a crucial role in this process by facilitating small groups sessions online. In these sessions, mothers have the opportunity to have conversations with one another about climate change and normalise what can be very difficult feelings they may have about it. They also explore what a better future for their children would look like and work together to figure out how they might work together to build that positive vision of the future.

How does it work?

When someone decides they would like to get a group of friends together for an online Mothers CAN session, we then reach out to our network of facilitators to see who is available to help.

Working in pairs, our facilitators then lead the session. They:

  • foster the “spirit of the session”, creating a safe space where every mother is equal, and supports and is supported by their peers.

  • present pre-crafted information about climate science and Mothers CAN

  • lead the group in a series of pre-designed exercises.
